each first-year seminar also has an upper-class student mentor called an o-team leader to work with you as well. this student focuses on your out-of-class experience and connecting you to others and resources across campus. throughout the summer and during orientation, your o-team leader will be in contact and will be happy to answer your questions.


Gianna Barone

Hey everyone! I’m Gianna2020欧洲杯网址APP [Barone], but G works just fine. I’m a senior psych major with the hopes of eventually becoming a counselor of some sort. I’ve lived in Roanoke for almost ten years now so I know the area pretty well. In my free time you can most likely find me walking my dog Odie around campus!


Harika Bommana

Hello everyone! I’m Harika Bommana and I will be one of your O-Team Leaders this year. I’m an international student from Hyderabad, India. I am a rising senior, double majoring in communication studies and English with a double concentration in creative writing and multicultural literature. I am also the former president and current editor for Gravel magazine and a student worker in Moody Dining Hall. During my time at Hollins, I have been an ISOP mentor, a member of the Hollins Activity Board (HAB), and ACCENT, which helped me get involved in campus activities and make new friends. When I am not in a class, I am usually taking a walk around campus during sunset, cooking with my friends, or having mini picnics. Hanna DeVarona

Hello class of 2024! My name is Hanna DeVarona, and I will be an O-Team Leader for this upcoming year. I’m a rising senior majoring in business (marketing), double minoring in communication studies and economics, and pursuing the Batten Leadership Certificate. I’m from Woodbridge, VA (NOVA), which is right near DC. Other than being an O-Team Leader, I’m also a member of the swim team, a tour guide, and the athletic chair for SGA. Outside of school, I enjoy making weekly Starbucks runs, listening to music, and relaxing by watching one my favorite shows, The Office. I’m so excited to meet you all in the fall! Salima Driss

Hello, class of 2024! My name is Salima Driss and I’m going to be an O-Team Leader as you all embark on your journey at Hollins. I am a rising sophomore history major on the pre-law track and am deeply passionate about all things social justice. I am involved in our Model UN/Model Arab League club, will be serving as sophomore class secretary, and live in Sandusky, our community service house on campus! Some of my favorite things to do are to eat meals with my friends in Moody, walk the loop at sunset, and sit on the porch of Sandusky doing my homework. I love Hollins and have grown into a much stronger, more confident person just in my first year here. Howdy y’all! My name is Lydia Duffy and I’m a senior English major with a concentration in creative writing. I’m from just north of Atlanta, GA. Hey there class of 2024! I’m Yashelle Hunte and I’ll be one of your O-Team Leaders this year. I am from Gaithersburg, MD;  it’s on the edge of northern suburbia of the greater DC area. I’m a rising junior double majoring in biology and creative writing. I am also a member of roundtable as the class of 2022 president and president of Students for Environmental Action (SEA). I live in Mae Jemison, STEM house. My favorite spot on campus is atop the hill behind the library—from there you can see all of campus. I enjoy writing and watching the sunset from there. Hi 2024! My name is Clairanne Johnson and I am a rising senior from New Orleans. I’m a communication studies/music double major who enjoys folk music, crafting, and hiking. I live in NEFA (the art specialty house) and am very passionate about art and music nonprofit work. I am also a member of the Mountain Laurels which is the school’s Appalachian music ensemble. I’m a rising junior double majoring in theatre and English with concentrations in creative writing and literature and performance. I’m also an international student from Karachi, Pakistan. Hey class of 2024! I’m Ally Majano and I will be an Orientation Team Leader this year. I’m a rising junior majoring in Spanish and political science, planning on becoming an immigration lawyer, and I’m also president of Unión de Estudiantes Latinx (UEL) as well as vice president for La Casa Hispánica. I strive to help the Hollins community become more diverse and inclusive and welcome all cultures, as well as celebrate them. Hi! My name is Chanmolis Mout. I am a rising sophomore, an environmental studies and international studies double major. I am from Cambodia – yup, the summer heat in Virginia is like the usual temperature back home. My favorite activities to do in the summer are hiking and sitting by the pool (because I can’t/don’t know how to swim yet!). Hi everybody! My name is Lily Savage and I’m a rising sophomore here at Hollins with a double major in theater and music composition. I’ll be one of your Orientation Leaders this fall, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I’m from Halifax County here in southern Virginia, where I started my love of performance at a local theater called The Prizery, and was lucky enough to even put on my own musical there! Hey Hey, ’24! My name is Lacey Shelton and I’m super excited to be an O-Team leader again this year. I’m from Gretna, VA and I’ll be a rising junior this fall. I’m an English major with a concentration in creative writing, and I’m a self-proclaimed romance writer. I’ll be involved on campus this year through the Writing Center as a tutor, singer, and fiddle player in the Mountain Laurels, and through the Orientation Team (obviously). I’m originally from the South Carolina Low Country but currently live in Montgomery County, MD, a short metro ride from downtown D.C.
